When Jofli Met Jamie
Food, travels and meeting celebs!
Eat well – love life. That’s my motto. Call me cheesy, but I love that dairy delight. Cheese has lots of calcium which is very good for your bones.
Cheese and pineapple is my favourite and that means I get one of my five a day. TV chef Jamie Oliver gave me a recipe for fish pie with cheese in it when I met him on his Ministry of Food mission to get Britain cooking.
It would be great to wear a chef’s hat. Perhaps Jamie will invite me to cook in his kitchen.
Celebrity Corner
Mingling with celebrities such as Jamie is one of the hazards of being an in-demand bear. It’s not something I’m blasé about, however.
I just love meeting people, although I’ve had so many encounters that I can’t possibly mention them all here. Teddy Bears

But I could hardly leave out former Monty Python Michael Palin who’s my all-time travel hero for his wonderful TV documentaries. News reporter John Simpson has clocked up a few miles, too, even if some of his adventures have been rather scary.
Life in the fast line brought me into contact with veteran race commentator Murray Walker and one-time F1 world champion Jackie Stewart, while, for a complete change of pace, there was Springwatch presenter Kate Humble with her wildlife tales and bearded botanist David Bellamy who was actually at a campers’ and caravanners’ rally.
One of my ambitions is to appear in a TV soap, but the nearest I’ve come so far is chatting with Jimmi Harkishin, better known as Dev Alahan of Coronation Street.
Being an educational Teddy Bear, I don’t have any political leanings, though that doesn’t mean I’d turn down the chance of being photographed with an MP and I didn’t.
I was happy to share the spotlight with David Blunkett and John Prescott.
On a showbiz note, singer-actress Bernie Nolan, long-standing lead voice of The Nolans sisterly pop act, was an absolute delight and I’m always in the mood for dancing!
A Bear for All Seasons
Naturally, keeping company with so many personalities and having my backpack ready for yet another adventure requires an extensive wardrobe and I certainly have one.
No matter what the occasion, I can dress for it. My casual look ranges from T-shirts to beachwear and I can play the part as soldier, fireman, sailor and flier/biker or even be kitted out for a safari.
Keeping up with young fashion, there’s a hoodie and, for English travels, a must-have raincoat! A dinner invitation means evening dress and, when retiring to bed, satin or flannel PJs offer a choice. Teddy Bears

These are some of my favourites and I even have special birthday boy and girl outfits, isn’t that cool!!!

Jofli’s Jaunts
That’s not forgetting the two travel outfits – one cool, the other fabulous (!) – designed specifically for my longer jaunts.
The island of Madeira was my very first escapade and there have been many more since, taking in Hong Kong, China and Indonesia. Teddy Bears

Had my picture taken with the pilot on my Hong Kong trip, it was fantastic, just couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t let me have a go at flying the plane, though!!!
I’ve made friends with lots of lovely children (pictured). These wonderful children are from the Islamic International School in Bandung, Indonesia.
Closer to home, my exploits have led me to the Yorkshire Dales, particularly the village of Ingleton, and Center Parcs at Longleat as well as shows and events that brought an encounter with Pirates of the Caribbean’s Cap’n Jack Sparrow.
I’ve really hit the heights, too, having scaled Mount Snowdon in Wales and been to the top of Scotland’s Ben Nevis. But that’s not the peak of my ambition and there’ll be many more mountains to climb…not always literally. Teddy Bears
